Selection Process

The RARA Core Committee consists of individuals who are employed by various agencies, companies, organizations and school districts in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

The function of this committee is to plan, advertise and most importantly, establish a selection process that is objective and fair. This special event is organized by the group which consists of members from the following sub-committees: Marketing, Nominations, Finance and Programs.

The Nominations Committee forwards letters of request to the outlying communities for names of people who would qualify for the Selections Committee. Once all referrals are received, the Nominations Committee then appoints representatives to do the selection of award winners.

In order for the Selection Committee to determine a winner of a specific award, they use the Kepner Tregoe scoring system. The next step is to tally the points for each nomination form, and the individual with the highest score is the winner of that category.
